The REQ Center Story

The REQ Center is a planned 7,000 seat climate-controlled sports entertainment complex situated on Interstate 5 in southwest Washington State midway between the metropolitan areas of Seattle and Portland.

Southwest Washington is the perfect location for an indoor performance arena, catering to the large equestrian communities of the Pacific Northwest. The site is rural in nature, yet immediately adjacent to the interstate for easy access.

The REQ Center is an ideal destination for all kinds of spectator events: top rank professional rodeo and bull riding, Olympic jumping competitions, national equestrian shows, conventions, concerts, graduations and more.

Our larger development plan includes visitor services to make The REQ comfortable and convenient, including hotels, restaurants, retail shops and travel services.

All of this is set in a beautiful natural surrounding, with one of Washington's premier salmon spawning streams running along behind with walking trails and breathtaking views of the Cascades, Mt. Rainier and thundering Mt. St. Helens.

Hitchhiker's Guide to REQ Center Project Terms

Not sure what the PFD PDF doc about the REQ means? We thought we'd put up this handy guide to terms, abbreviations and acronyms that end up somewhere along the trail in our path to build The REQ. Good luck...

E News UpdatesThe two most common questions I am asked every day is "When will The REQ Center open?" and "How's the Project going?"

There are times in a complex project like The REQ that it seems that time has virtually stopped. Sitting over a cup of coffee at The Oly Club - our morning ritual - I sometimes ask myself those same questions. So to bring you the latest news on the REQ development progress, you can check here... at the eNews Update.

Wetland Studies Underway

You may have seen a lot of activity on the site at Exit 63 in the past few weeks. Consultants working for The REQ Group and representatives from regulatory agencies have been working on site to map and define the wetlands that are so commonplace in Lewis County.

The end result of all this work will be a mitigation plan that will define the areas that need to be protected and redeveloped and those areas where development can occur. It is a time consuming and difficult task, but in the end we will have a site where the wetland mitigation will be a part of The REQ Center success story.

In addition, there is a study underway - independent of our project - that is studying the Hwy 505 corridor from Toledo to Winlock. Surveyors and consultants on this project are also working in the area.

A Note About Concept Drawings

Our early concept drawings which are presented here are just that - EARLY DRAWINGS. They should not be confused with final master plan documents, wetland study plans, or development regulations. They are only intended to give you a sense of what we are planning.

Part of the MPR process is to create a master plan. That plan will definitively map out the development, its impacts on the local community and the region, take into account sensitive areas and traffic issues, and zoning and development plans, among other elements.

A full State Environmental Policy Act study (SEPA) will be a part of the master plan, as required by law.

This process will last through the summer, and will eventually be presented to the County Commissioners through a series of public hearings and working sessions, as required by state laws and county regulations.
